... and there were no parades.

I talk with many people who are so miserable, and bored in their existence. Brokenhearted. Most every dream they ever dreamed never happened. The touchdown pass was never thrown in the Super Bowl, storming the beaches of Normandy was not in the cards. Marriage to the Prince never happened. You never saved a life or stopped the crime as a policeman you wished to be as a young lad. Why you never even stopped that bully. There was never the song sang in concert, nor the dance performed before the accepting public, why you never even took the ballroom lessons with your spouse.

There was never the great speech inspiring thousands with all the words you knew they needed to hear. Why there was no attempt to say the thing you know she needed to hear you say.

I'm with you.

Deep down there is that gnawing truth that you know there is got to be more. You can feel it deep in your heart and every once in a while, like a shooting star, you experience that feeling that you know there is something out there. You have to do something with it. Or you... settle much like Willy Lowman in Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesmanfor the lie of denial. You live out of your false self that you have created to ease your pain. The false-self creates two lies. One that you have made it, materially and with the respect of others earned as they view your craftily put together life. The other lie is that you are a failure and deserve the shame, fear, and loathing that simmers below your surface. At the end of Act 1, Linda, Willy's wife screams out to her sons;

"Idon't say he's a great man. Willy Loman never made a lot of money. His name was never in the paper... But he's a human being, and a terrible thing is happening to him. So attention must be paid! He's not to be allowed to fall into his grave like an old dog. Attention, attention must be finally paid to such a person."

Both of these lies are just that. Lies! Then what is the truth? What are you here for? What does God have for you that in any way is meaningful for your life? The only life you have is the present. The past is over and you have no assurances of any future past the last breath that just expelled from your nostrils. My friend if you want to hear from God, I'm going to give you a nugget I've learned. He is in a relationship with you all the time, but he only is relating to your True Self; not that lying False self you have created. Answer me this; why would God waste time with a liar? Friends, your journey to a fulfilled life starts with God and your True Self.

Maybe you are at the point that you are willing to explore that glimmer inside you. Maybe you are like the countless thousands of blind, brokenhearted, and captive on the hill at the Mount that were given sight, hope, and freedom. It will take courage and honesty. Why do some people feel that courage and honesty are difficult? I have learned over my years of stumbling, that courage and honesty set you free, and that the life of lies is hard and tiring. That is the single best word I have to describe religious people....tired.
